Ceramic coatings keep hardening after installation. During the cure window, skip washing entirely and try to keep the vehicle out of rain and sprinklers when you can. We'll give you exact cure guidance for the specific product we install on your vehicle — follow that over anything generic you read online (including this page).
Washing the Right Way
- Hand wash with pH-neutral car soap — no dish soap, no harsh degreasers.
- Two buckets, clean microfiber — one bucket to wash, one to rinse your mitt, so you're not rubbing grit back into the finish.
- Wash in the shade — Arkansas sun flash-dries soap and water into spots.
- Dry with a soft towel or blower — don't let it air dry, especially with our mineral-heavy water.
What to Avoid
- Brush car washes — the single fastest way to mar a coated finish.
- Letting bird droppings or sap sit — the coating buys you time, not immunity. Rinse them off when you see them.
- Aggressive polishes or compounds — polishing removes coating. If something looks wrong, ask us before attacking it.

Do I still need to wash a coated vehicle?
Yes — a coating makes washing dramatically easier, but dirt still lands on the car. The difference is it releases with far less effort and won't bond the way it does to bare paint.
Can I take a coated car through a car wash?
Touchless washes are fine. Brush tunnels are not — the spinning brushes will mar the coating the same way they mar clear coat.
Should I wax over my ceramic coating?
No need — wax adds nothing on top of a coating and can interfere with its hydrophobic behavior. If you want a boost, ask us about coating-safe toppers instead.
Water isn't beading like it used to — is the coating dead?
